DoDEA has a long and proud history of serving military families at locations around the globe. While there has been much change over the history of DoDEA, and especially in recent times, one thing remains constant — students are at the core of everything we do. Use the history on the website to help you communicate that commitment!
Don’t overlook radio as an important way to inform your community about the history of our contribution to military families over our 75 year history. Send these radio readers to your local affiliate for the DJs to use during the daily radio programs. These also make great messages for your staff bulletins, parent newsletters, or talking points as you speak to community groups.
This document outlines the approved avenue for the disposition of school memorabilia, and the process managed by the American Overseas Schools Historical Society (AOSHS). It is a great and approved avenue in helping to preserve our rich history of serving military-connected students.
One important partnership between AOSHS and DoDEA is the Yearbook Digitization Initiative. School yearbooks reflect the events and lives of students and adults involved with a school for a given school year. The goal of this effort is to collect, digitalize and archive every yearbook in the history of our school system so they are accessible online to everyone anywhere in the world. To make this a reality, AOSHS and DoDEA need your help.
In the coming school year, we will celebrate 75 years. We’ll look back with gratitude on the remarkable men and women who made it their life’s work to care, educate, and empower more than 15 million military-connected children who have passed through our doors. The following resources will help you provide ongoing visibility for this celebration in your school community.
