Dr. Jason Federico - Amelia Earhart IS Principal

A Western New York native, Dr. Federico graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, Dr. Federico served three years in the United States ARMY as an ammunition specialist. When his enlistment ended, he took a position as an Operations Manager with LSG Sky Chefs at Dulles airport. The tragic events of 9/11 forced Dr. Federico to reevaluate his life direction and that is when he decided to move back to NY and pursue a Masters in Elementary Education. He taught 7-12 Social Studies in a small school for ten years and served as the K-12 Dean of Students for one year in the same district. He earned an additional certification in School Leadership at the State University of New York at Brockport in 2009.

At the beginning of the 2012 school year, he was hired to serve as the 4-12 Instructional Systems Specialist in Social Studies for the North Carolina district in DDESS. As the landscape shifted in DDESS, he took on the additional roles of Continuous School Improvement and Assessment, along with the ELA and Social Studies. In September 2015 he was hired to serve as the Assistant Principal at Amelia Earhart Intermediate School. After a period serving as the interim principal, Dr. Federico was officially named the new principal of Amelia Earhart Intermediate School in April 2018.

As a veteran, Dr. Federico finds that serving the needs of the military community is an honor and privilege. He understands the hardships that families face and is focused on providing a well-rounded educational experience for their students. He wants military members to feel confident that their child's education is in good hands while they keep up with the mission.
