FORT KNOX, KY — August 26, 2022 — Greg Bull, the Department of Defense Education Activity Southeast district superintendent, is pleased to announce Michelle Allen as the new community superintendent for Fort Knox.
“Michelle Allen is an experienced educational leader that understands the needs of our students and families,” said Bull. “Her life journey as a military child, soldier, teacher, and military spouse makes Michelle just the right person to serve as the first community superintendent at Fort Knox.”
With an educational philosophy centered on the premise that every student can learn, Allen is dedicated to exemplifying excellence while strengthening and uniting practices in support of One DoDEA.
“I am grateful to serve the military-connected families at Fort Knox, Kentucky,” said Allen. “I am committed to the mission and vision of DoDEA and look forward to building partnerships within and outside the community.”
Allen earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management and English, as well as a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the Jacksonville State University. She also holds an Educational Specialist degree from Troy State University and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
With her passion for education, Allen began her career as a teacher’s aide in 1991. She went on to serve as a multi-age teacher in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Allen later held positions as a reading specialist, teacher of academically gifted students, and general education teacher at Fort Benning, GA.
Allen transitioned into school administration with DoDEA in 2008, serving as an assistant principal with a dual appointment at Dexter and Wilson Elementary Schools. She went on to serve as principal of Wilson and McBride Elementary Schools, Bitz Intermediate School, and Shughart Elementary School.
