As the Community Superintendent for the Georgia/Alabama Community, I welcome you to School Year 2019-2020 and I am excited to work with an outstanding group of teachers, support staff, and leaders as we provide high-quality education for the military-connected students. Our Blueprint for Continuous Improvement is our strategic plan which directs our actions and strategies used for success.
As a learning organization, our continuous improvement is focused on increased effectiveness to make a positive impact on the educational experiences of our stakeholders, more specifically, the students. Within the last several years, our shift to a standards-based educational system and changes to our structure are deliberate steps toward academic excellence. Our military-connected children deserve and receive our best efforts as they grow and develop and it is my pleasure to serve them and their families. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and support as we embrace our continuous improvement.
Throughout the Georgia/Alabama Community, we encompass 8 schools that are divided among the installations of Fort Benning, Fort Rucker and Maxwell Air Force Base. We have 6 elementary schools and 2 middle schools with an enrollment total of approximately 3,559 students. Even though we do not host any high schools, we proudly work with the neighboring communities to ensure all of our children receive a smooth transition into high school.
I am looking forward to a new and exciting year!
In keeping with our mission to educate, engage, and empower each student to succeed in a dynamic world the DoDEA Curriculum Content Standards and the Blueprint for Continuous Improvement provide the framework for academic excellence. DoDEA schools will transition to College and Career Ready (CCR) standards in mathematics and literacy in a phased approach over the next five years. Learn more about CCR standards.
The GA/AL community schools do not provide all grade level programs. Dependent students living on the military installations attend schools operated by the Local Education Agency in the civilian community for grade levels not offered by DoDEA Americas.
Special Education services are available to all students including preschoolers. If you have concerns regarding your child's academic, physical, social, or language development, you may contact your child's teacher or the principal. Preschool children ages three and four years with developmental delays, physical disabilities, or speech-language problems may be eligible for services.
