All students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities whether they be athletic, academic or social in nature *. These activities help to shape students and prepare them for the future as part of a well rounded education.
However Clubs/Extra Curricular Activities might be suspended due to COVID. The list of Clubs/Extra curricular activities are subject to change each school year.
Transportation - There is no extra-curricular activity bus for students who participate in these activities at this time.
Cancellations - Due to unforeseen training, meetings, or teacher absences, an activity may be canceled without advanced notice. The sponsoring teacher will endeavor to notify students and parents of the canceled activity if time permits. If the activity is canceled at the last minute, we will notify students through the school intercom system, at the end of the instructional day.
Based on Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Guam (IIAAG) regulations end of Quarter Grades will determine eligibility to participate in athletic activities for the next quarter. To be eligible to participate in athletic activities students must maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher and have no D’s or F’s. If a student is determined academically ineligible based on End of Quarter Grades, he/she will not be allowed to participate in the next quarter’s athletic activities. Once the season starts (first practice) grades will be checked bi-weekly to maintain academic eligibility to participate in athletic activities. If a student becomes academically ineligible during one of the bi-weekly grade checks he/she will be put on two-week probation to allow time for the student to become academically eligible. If he/she is unsuccessful, then he/she may be removed from the team. If a student becomes academically ineligible more than once in a season, he/she will be removed from the team and will be determined ineligible to participate in athletic activities during the next quarter.

All high school students, and middle school students in some cases, are provided the opportunity to participate in the Interscholastic Athletic Program without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, or other factors unrelated to that participation. There are uniform eligibility policies for participants in all athletic programs. Please refer to your Area Interscholastic Athletics Program Policy for details relating to your school. For DoDEA- Americas schools, please consult your state of residence athletic policies and the school athletic director for specifics regarding state regulations and requirements.
Athletics/Extra-Curricular Activities: Athletics and Extra-Curricular Activities are a privilege for our students and all are encouraged to participate. However, that privilege can be taken away for disciplinary reasons at any time at the discretion of the administration for disciplinary reasons. As a general rule, if a student has discipline infraction, the severity of the infraction will be taken into consideration and the privilege to participate in a sport or activity may be revoked for the quarter.
Students may also lose the privilege to participate on the first offense if it is deemed an appropriate punishment by the administration.
Out-of-School suspensions will result in disqualification for the quarter, while In-School-Suspensions will be at the discretion of the Administration.
All students are expected to be honest and to display a high standard of integrity in the preparation and presentation of work for credit in all classes. The attempt of any student to present as his/her own work such work that was not honestly performed by the student will be regarded as a serious offense which may subject the offender to a grading penalty and/or disciplinary action. School staff will contact the parents or guardians of any student who is found to be in violation of this policy. (Review AMS Grading Guidelines #11)
Each student participating in a sport must have a sports physical signed by a physician and completed within the last year on file in the nurse’s office and with the Athletic Director. Physicals are only valid for one calendar year from the date the physical was given, so they must be updated annually in order for a student to play sports.
All students wishing to participate in Andersen Middle School sports must submit a COMPLETED SPORTS PACKET, which can be picked up at the front office.

The Society of Teens That Care is a student organization for middle school teens (ages 11-13 years old) that promote a fun, positive and supportive atmosphere. It includes community volunteer opportunities that encourage family involvement. Weather feeding the homeless, taking care of stray pets, helping the elderly, making Christmas cards for deployed servicemen, or participating in a beach clean-up for the community, teens experience first- hand the value of helping others and taking care of the community. Character values of trust, respect, responsibility, teamwork and good community citizenship are reinforced at the meetings and activities. At each meeting, teens have an opportunity to talk about issues affecting them today and find support amongst their peers. Plus we do fun things like arts and craft, games, candy grams and much more!
