All students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities whether they be athletic, academic or social in nature. These activities help to shape students and prepare them for the future as part of a well rounded education.
Some of our athletics and activities are Europe based events, which means that there is a culminating area wide championship for athletics that mimics a state championship. Europe Activities are support curriculum and offer area wide available throughout the year that range from art, drama and music to math, language and film/entertainment. The athletic program at Aviano MHS always has been a strong one. There is interscholastic competition for boys and girls during three seasons. The Interscholastic Athletics Program (IAP) is open to all students in grades 9 -12. To participate on an athletic team, a student must meet all criteria DoDEA Europe South and AMHS. This includes adherence to the Academic Eligibility Standards. Sportsmanship and personal fitness are two of the goals of the athletics program. All participants and parents must sign and abide by the Aviano HS Athletic Code. A physical examination each year is required to try out, practice, or play. Any medication left with school nurse or carried by an athlete (i.e. inhaler) MUST have a medication permission form which is submitted to school nurse. There is also a athletics packet that is required for all students participating in the Interscholastic Athletics Program.
Aviano High School competes in DoDEA Division II Athletics. Middle school students are permitted to participate on a limited basis in Cross Country, Wrestling and Track. Parents of middle school students who wish their children to train or compete in athletics must meet all the requirements as set forth in the IAP and the Aviano MHS Athletic Code.

Basketball
Basketball Season starts early December.
Wrestling
Wrestling practices start early November. Off-season conditioning is necessary to the success of wrestlers. The team will travel 5 or 6 times during the season and managing a healthy diet is crucial to your success.

School clubs are a great way to develop new interests and to make new friends. Aviano Middle/High School provides extra-curricular activities after school. Students select these activities based on their interests. Several teachers are the sponsors and coordinate the programs with parents, students, and community volunteers. Aviano Middle/High School offers the following clubs, which generally run throughout the school year.
