Falcon Facts - May 13th Edition

I want to extend a huge thank you to our community especially to the NSA Bahrain Fire Department for their support and help during our fire on Sunday morning.  The entire base has been a huge supporter of to the school and continues to walk alongside us as we continue to address the needs of our students, staff and community.  I have attached a letter with an update to you all regarding the situation  and the ongoing work we are doing.  I am so proud of your children for quickly adapting and expressing their needs and questions throughout the week so they could be supported through this unexpected change.  Memorandum

I have not published to much this week but I do encourage you to check out the pictures on FB of our new classroom spaces for our students K-3rd grade.  The teachers did amazing work and collaborated quickly together to get class back up and running with spaces that were student friendly.

May 16th will be a half day with students getting out of school at 11AM as our teachers will be working on our school improvement plan and looking at our schools end of year writing data.

Shortly, I will publish our end of year activities for our 4-5th grade students which will include a face to face awards ceremony for our 5th grade students.  We look forward to welcoming you into the building to acknowledge and celebrate your children as they leave elementary school.

Falcon Facts - May 5th Edition

  • Happy Cinco De Mayo from Bahrain School.  Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, which falls on Thursday, May 5 in 2022, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage.  Want to learn more and share with your children check out this great informational video on YouTube.

  • We had a wonderful first day back after our Eid break.  I hope this time was refreshing as our weather starts to feel a little bit more like summer.  Students enjoyed an opportunity to cool off at recess with our SOARr incentive of ice pops with their tickets.  I know some students are saving up for our big SOARr event at the end of the year with a water balloon toss at the principal.
  • I am excited about the Feed the Need project that we have started here at Bahrain School.  As you come through the round-about you will see a new refrigerator that was purchased by our Junior Falcons.  Our school community has the opportunity to fill up the refrigerator to provide food and drink support to those in our community in need.  Please consider bringing some items in with your student or drop off directly at the refrigerator.
