Department of Defense Education Activity

Dear BES Family

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 academic year. I am excited to welcome some new staff to assist your children. There are several new teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff joining us throughout the building.

Many diverse learning opportunities are in place for your children this year. Our goal is to challenge your children intellectually, help them grow them socially, and guide them toward independent thinking and problem solving. As we strive to promote healthy development in all aspects of each student’s life, we also strive to develop a student body of good character; students who make good choices and decisions resulting in successful and healthy outcomes. We encourage students to demonstrate the best of themselves every moment of every day and to make positive contributions to their classrooms and grade levels. We strive to instill within our student body a sense of personal pride as well as love and collective pride for our school. Your children will have many opportunities to display their strengths this year. We welcome you to become a part of a successful school year.

Falcon Facts - May 5th Edition

  • Happy Cinco De Mayo from Bahrain School.  Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, which falls on Thursday, May 5 in 2022, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage.  Want to learn more and share with your children check out this great informational video on YouTube.
  • FREE Summer Tutoring: The for U.S. Military Families Program can help students of all ages hone their writing, math, and other skills as they work through class assignments, learn new concepts, refine skills, prepare for tests, and get ready for the Fall in 150+ subjects. Our live tutors continue to be available 24/7at no cost to ALL DoDEA students all summer long at  High School students can use the Princeton Review’s SAT/ACT Essentials to prepare for their upcoming college entrance exams.
  • We had a wonderful first day back after our Eid break.  I hope this time was refreshing as our weather starts to feel a little bit more like summer.  Students enjoyed an opportunity to cool off at recess with our SOARr incentive of ice pops with their tickets.  I know some students are saving up for our big SOARr event at the end of the year with a water balloon toss at the principal.
  • I am excited about the Feed the Need project that we have started here at Bahrain School.  As you come through the round-about you will see a new refrigerator that was purchased by our Junior Falcons.  Our school community has the opportunity to fill up the refrigerator to provide food and drink support to those in our community in need.  Please consider bringing some items in with your student or drop off directly at the refrigerator.
  • If you are interested in supporting a swim club they will be hosting a meeting Monday, May 9th here in person in the Great Hall at 6PM to discuss the start up of a Falcon Swim Team.
  • May 16th will be a half day with students getting out of school at 11AM.
