Brewster MS: Library Services

The school library provides a variety of books for reading and reference.  Books may be checked out by the students. If a student loses or severely damages a book, the parents will be responsible for replacement.  Please feel free to view or checkout materials from our collection.

The DoDEA School Library Information Center Program:

  • Provides access to print and non-print resource materials that are aligned to the DoDEA curriculum.
  • Facilitates library services and literacy programming that fosters a love of reading.
  • Defines the essential information literacy skills required for student achievement in the 21st century.
  • Collaborates with educators to design learning strategies and deliver instruction that meets the needs of the military child.

Reading Counts

Scholastic Reading Counts (SRC) is a program that encourages students to read for enjoyment and understanding.

Reading Counts Quiz Search
Provides information about books that are supported by SRC quizzes.  You can view the available quizzes to help you and your child select books for Reading Counts points.


Information Resources and Databases

The Media Center has over 20 databases that students use as they learn about:

  • accessing information efficiently and effectively;
  • evaluating information critically and competently

Destiny Discover  use Destiny to search for books and materials.

Students can access the following resources from home as well.

Mackin VIA  provides Brewster students with access to hundreds of ebooks and 19 databases. Tumble Cloud, Tumble Cloud Jr., and Tales2Go provides a collection of read-along books, ebooks, graphic novels, audio books, and educational videos. The eBooks and databases never need to be checked out, and everyone, including students, teachers, and parents, can read them at the same time at school, at home, or anywhere there is internet access.
