Electives for Middle School Students

Virtual middle school students have been automatically assigned to their elective—Coding for 6th and 7th grade; Health Opportunities through Physical Education (HOPE) for 8th grade. These are the only elective courses for DVS students in middle school for first semester. Parents who wish to opt out of the elective to allow students to focus on their four core courses may contact their regional DVS administrator at:

Ms. Barbara Kiyuna is the designated coordinator for special education students who are enrolled in the DoDEA Virtual School (DVS) for the Pacific and Europe regions. Ms. Kiyuna and your District ISS for   Special Education will be reaching out to you to arrange an IEP meeting, and to determine how services and supports will look for your child while attending the DVS.

DVS K-8 Overview

Welcome to the DoDEA K-8 Virtual School Option.  DoDEA is pleased to present this alternative to face-to-face learning as we all address the exceptional needs brought about by the CoVID-19 pandemic this year. We look forward to an exciting year as we have become one of the largest entities in DoDEA!

Students enrolled in grades K-8 through the Virtual School Option will attend fully accredited online courses taught by DoDEA certified teachers and supported by DoDEA certified staff members.  Whether you are enrolled in the Virtual School Option for one semester or for the entire 2020-21 school year, you will receive an education that has been aligned to DoDEA College and Career Readiness Standards.

Getting Started

  • Contact local DoDEA school to request courses and receive student Google email account & password.
  • Following course enrollment, access materials through our Learning Management System, Schoology..  Use Google email account to login.

DVS K-8 Calendar

Note: All students enrolled in the Virtual School Option will follow the DVS calendar. Your student’s academic year while enrolled in the Virtual School Option may be slightly different from your local school calendar, to include holidays.

Local school closures for inclement weather or teacher training do not impact the DVS calendar, and DVS students are expected to continue working from home.
