It is with pride and great pleasure that I welcome you to DeLalio Elementary School. I could not begin to share how much I enjoy working with students, parents, staff, and the community. As the wife of a USMC Service Member for 25 years, I understand the challenges of military life as a wife, a mother of five, and an educator.
My staff and I are totally excited about this school year! Now that COVID-19 is somewhat behind us, my enthusiastic staff and I are motivated in educating the next generation of our future. In the friendly and nurturing environment of DeLalio, students flourish - they grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
All students at DeLalio have access to additional support when needed. They are welcomed to communicate with Mr. Holmes, our School Counselor, or the Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) when needed. At DeLalio, ALL of us are child advocates!
A big part of this unique environment happens due to the hard work of faculty, staff, parents and volunteers who offer a great variety of extracurricular activities for your child to participate in - from fitness clubs to those such as art, video production, robotics, science, and technology. In addition, the DeLalio PTA makes a wide variety of special activities possible and we will keep you informed as opportunities arise.
We know it "takes a team" to win. We all share the goal of wanting every child here at DeLalio to succeed as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, problem solvers, critical thinkers, and simply happy and healthy children who believe in their own abilities. We look forward to working with parents so we can better support all of our students - at school and at home, in person or virtual students - in meeting this goal.
I ask that you carefully review this handbook with your child to enhance and strengthen our partnership. It provides students and parents with useful information about our history, rules and regulations, as well as the educational program. Please pay particular attention to our behavior expectations and help your child understand the no tolerance for weapons policy. It is important for all of our students to understand they should not bring to school, draw, write or talk about any type of weapon (pretend or real), particularly a "shooting." Students must understand our expectations for behavior, know that you are supportive of our policies, and that we work together as a team. Should you have questions, please reach out to your child's teacher, school counselor, front office staff, or me.
We hope to have every DeLalio student in attendance every day even though we are aware of circumstances in which they will not be. We ask that you keep us informed of absences and know that we are here to support our DeLalio families in every way that we can and will pledge to keep you informed as best as possible.
I look forward to working with you to provide a quality educational experience for your child(ren)! I am committed to Excellence in Education for Every Student, Every Day, Everywhere.
