Fort Knox High School Celebrates Black History Month 2019

    Principal Lonnie Gilmore Jr. and Fort Knox High School celebrated Black History month on February 5, 2019. Student Council President Anna Stitt read the famous poem “Let America be America Again” by Langston Hughes.  Fort Knox Youth of The Year Lauro Melendez introduced the guest speaker, Kentucky Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton.

     Lt. Governor Hampton addressed the 700 students and faculty members of both Fort Knox High School and Scott Middle School. Echoing Reba McEntire’s three bones for success. Lt. Governor Hampton shared her interpretation of success through possessing a wishbone, backbone and a funny bone. Key notes from her speech included setting goals and pursuing them, taking a stand for what you believe in, and the importance of cultivating a sense of humor.
