The Fort Knox High School football team is looking forward to the start of its regular season this Friday.

"There's good buzz around this program for the first time in a long time," said Eagles head coach Wes Arnold.

The Eagles are coming off a 4-7 season last year, which included a loss in their first-round KHSAA Class 1A playoff matchup to Russellville.

This year, the Eagles are hoping to have a winning season and host playoff game.

"We aim high because we're capable of doing that," said wide receiver and defensive back Sidney Gradney.

A big reason for higher expectations is because of the number of players on the roster.

"Five years ago, when i was here as an assistant, unfortunately we had to forfeit some games due to low numbers," said Arnold. "Right now we are at 47 players this year."

Fort Knox opens the season Friday at Paris. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
