Quantico | March 8, 2017
On March 8, chaperone S. Bianca and teachers T. Martin, L.Shinaver, T. Wood, and J. Kayak, took select students to the Newseum in Washington, DC. There, they relived newsworthy events through old headlines and relics. Some exhibits the students visited were a segment of the Berlin Wall, the FBI exhibit, the Pulitzer Prize showcase, the Louder Than Words exhibit (Rock, Power, and Politics), News History exhibit, The First Amendment gallery, the 9/11 memorial, the Interactive Newsroom, and the Annenberg Space for Photography's Refuge. Attending student, T. Adams stated, "The Pulitzer Prize exhibit was my favorite. It invoked a lot of emotion--it was very real." Overall, the newseum was both an educational and immersive experience and attendees expressed hope that it will become a traditional trip for QMHS.
