On Thursday, March 7th members of WHINSEC (Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation) came to Dexter to read to ESL students as part of the school’s Read Across America celebration.  The volunteers from WHINSEC chose two books to read to the group.  They read “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”  by Dr. Seuss in honor of his birthday on March 2nd and they read the bilingual English/Spanish book “Bear Takes a Trip” (“Oso se va de viaje”).  While visiting, the members of WHINSEC gave the students an opportunity to share which countries they have lived in and invited them to talk about where they are from originally.

Dexter Elementary would like to thank our visitors for taking the time to share their love of reading with our students!
