Fifth grade students have been using the Engineering Design Process to make paper roller coasters. Students started with making a plan using constraints (time, materials, and work area) and criteria (add as many thrill elements as possible and provide the longest ride time). Next, each group presented a drawing of what they thought their roller coaster would look like. Then, students used their drawing to start building their roller coaster, tested, retested, and made changes as needed. This has been a great STEAM week for our future engineer design teams!
