Quantico | April 6, 2017
On April 6, 2017, the AVID students at QMHS participated in "Mock Job Interviews", in order to prepare for life after high school and college. As part of the AVID program, students went through the process of finding, preparing and interviewing for a job. This process included extensive research into various careers, creating a résumé, filling out job applications and preparing for potential interview questions. Students learned how to dress professionally, present themselves in a confident and professional capacity, prepare for interview questions and articulate themselves clearly and concisely during an interview.
Utilizing volunteers from the Quantico community, students were able to participate in mock interviews with real HR officials. At the end of the process, one of the AVID students, Matthew Arenas, said, "I learned many valuable lessons throughout the experience. Many people never get an experience like this through high school, so it will give me a leg up on the competition when applying for a future job. Knowing how to create a résumé is a very impactful skill. The experience as a whole gave me great insight and confidence for the future when applying for jobs."
