Thursday, June 7 was “Nicholas and Brooklynn Decker Day” at Shughart Elementary. This special day was observe to honor the bravery shown by Nicholas (2nd grade) and Brooklynn (Pre-K) when they were unsuccessful in waking up their mother who had lapsed into a diabetic coma. The two children took pictures of their unconscious mother and sent them to their father and grandmother who recognized that the mother was having a medical emergency. Because the children were such good thinkers and problem solvers, the family members were able to get the mother, Samantha, the help that she needed. Nicholas and Brooklyn will forever be remembered for their bravery and ability to act in an emergency situation.
