After celebrating the “Month of the Military Child” all April, the Tigers from the Kaiserslautern Military Community  (KMC) planned to wrap-up their list of events with a PTO organized parade. However, inclement weather decided otherwise.

“When the rain wouldn’t stop, someone asked me, “Are we going to cancel?” My response was, “Absolutely not…we will reschedule!” said Sembach ES Principal, Martha Enyeart. “I immediately looked at the weather app to see that Monday was projected to be clear.”

More than 200 students, grades K through 5, littered the fence line for the parade that passed them by, twice. Regional and District leadership & instructional teams also joined the fun, blowing bubbles and spreading cheer as motivational music welcomed the students to their last full month of school.

Sembach ES Purple Up Day - Month of the Military Child“Our military connected children are deserving of this and so much more” said Enyeart. “No other student population lives the type of life that military-connected children do.  The number of missed events, celebrations, unexpected changes in plans, the sheer number of moves to other states and countries, the saying “See you later” to multiple friends and families, are all reasons why these children must learn to be resilient, strong, courageous, and adaptable, much earlier than any other children in the world. “

“Celebrating MOMC is our FAVORITE month!!! We enjoy celebrating all month long and this final event ended up being just perfect to recognize and celebrate them all!”
