The Smithsonian American Art Museum hosted its eighth annual art competition for all students in Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools, world-wide. Three Ramey students were recognized.
Ramey Unit School is pleased to announce Annabelle C. from Kindergarten as the First place winner at the Elementary Level and Natanael A., Grade 5, as the second place winner of The Smithsonian Art Museum’s Eighth Annual Art Competition for DoDEA students. Honorable Mention was also given to a Ramey student, Frederico C. from Grade 1.
This competition was for all students in Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools worldwide. Schools which participated this year were located in Turkey, Germany, Japan, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Puerto Rico. The winning artwork was selected by the staff at the Smithsonian Art Museum in Washington D.C. The Elementary School Theme this year was “Zoom In”. Anabelle’s art was a close up of a Drosera binata, a carnivorous plant. We are very proud that our students won the Elementary First and Second Place and Honorable Mention awards this year. To all the students who participated, the Smithsonian wants to thank you and welcome you to try again for next year’s competition.
