Quantico | April 5, 2017
The tenacious QMHS Drama Club students determined at the beginning of the year to charter a troupe of the International Thespian Society, and they have met their goal! Tuesday, April 4, marked the induction of its new members, which included 14 actors from QMHS: Thomas Russ, Meckenzie Reep, Samantha Magdaleno, Courtney Tarver, Kristen Fox, Madison Butts, Denhere Mack, Amy Padilla, Marisol Araujo, Jalyn Parrish, Anthony Tarver, Eleanor Smith, Danielle Piper, and James Russ. The ITS is an honor society for theatre students and awards points based on involvement in theatrical activities on and off the
stage. Quantico's actors have had a busy year and many opportunities to earn points. Starting in the fall, students staged a haunted house, attended professional productions of "Romeo & Juliet" and "Wicked." A reader's theater production of "A Christmas Carol" performed at Crossroads Elementary was followed by a spring murder mystery. Several students also participated in non-school performances.
Raquel Manzanet, the current Drama Club president and veteran ITS member, led the group this year and inspired many to participate. At the end of the month, the organization will hold elections for next year's ITS troupe leadership.
