Fort Jackson schools hosted a "Movie in the Park" featuring the film: Horton Hears a Who, by Dr. Seuss.
Fort Jackson schools showed a Dr. Seuss film in the park, in the middle of family housing!!!
Families were encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and spread out on the lawn, to view the movie under the stars!!!
It was a very magical night!
Total Participants: 175-200 people
Movie in the Park was the final celebration of Read Across America. It allowed students to compare and contrast a well-known Dr. Seuss story that they have heard read aloud or have read themselves (Horton Hears a Who) to diverse media and formats to include visual presentations! (CCRSL / Reading / Anchor Standard #7/ Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words.) Attached.
It directly connects to the DoDEA Blueprint by highlighting:
