Ms. A. Sehon Waheed Named Assistant Principal of Sullivans ES

Dr. Steven Bloom, Pacific East Superintendent, is pleased to announce Ms. A. Sehon Waheed as Assistant Principal of Sullivans ES at Yokosuka, Japan.

Ms. Waheed is an educational leader who has successfully led education initiatives at the school, district, state, federal and international levels.

Ms. Waheed’s wealth of experiences in school administration, organizational leadership, strategic planning, professional development, program evaluation, and curriculum development have afforded her opportunities to work as the former Assistant Principal at Ikego ES and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Special Education, and Advanced Placement Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) for the Department of Defense Education Activity. Additionally, Ms. Waheed worked as the Supervisor of Inclusive Programs, Special Education Instructional Specialist and Mathematics Instructional Specialist in Prince George’s County, Maryland Public Schools. As well as, Ms. Waheed was the Assistant Principal at Rolling Terrace Elementary School and Principle Administrator of Glenmont Alternative School in Montgomery County, Maryland Public Schools. Also, while in Prince George’s County, Maryland Public Schools, Ms. Waheed was identified as an exceptional educational leader in Special Education and Mathematics and was selected to participate in the Special Education Leadership Academy and Maryland State Mathematics Assessment developer for the Maryland State Department of Education. Ms. Waheed is guided by her core educational beliefs: equity to learn, opportunities to further enrich academic experiences, building respectful relationships with stakeholders, and holding stakeholders responsible for ALL student learning.

Ms. Waheed’s educational background includes current studies at Vanderbilt University in pursuit of a PhD in Leadership and Organizational Development. Ms. Waheed received a Graduate Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University, Columbia, MD; a M.A. degree from The George Washington University, Washington, DC, with a concentration in Human Development and Special Education: Behavior and Emotional Disorders; B.S. from The University of the District of Columbia with a concentration in K-12 Special Education; and attended Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt where she studied Arabic and Middle Eastern History.

Ms. Waheed is from Washington, DC and enjoys traveling, organizing community service events, and spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephews in her spare time. Her personal motto is Believe in Greatness and Live Your Life.
