On Wednesday, February 14th, Dexter students celebrated a love of reading with “Read Your Heart Out Day.”  During the event, students were allowed to pick a favorite book and choose a location in the school to read for 20 minutes.  Many students read in the Gym, the cafeteria and in the Media Center, while other students enjoyed sitting on the carpet in their classrooms.  Some chose to read with a buddy and a few students even chose to bring blankets, pillows and stuffed animals.

The event was held to celebrate meeting our Reading Counts Goal of 5,000 points, and to promote the love of reading.   The students are now trying to reach a goal of 10,000 Reading Counts points before the end of the school year.
