Ms. Lydia Otero
Ramey Aguadilla, Puerto Rico | May 16, 2019
Ms. Otero, MS Science teacher at Ramey Unit School invited two students from the University of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla “CORA” to give a presentation about carnivorous plants to her 6th grade science class. Yulian Mercado and Sara Justiniano began the presentation with basic information about plants. Then, Yulian and Sara showed the students various types of carnivorous plants and their habitats. The 6th graders were actively engaged during this presentation by pouring water onto the plants to see how they reacted to this. Students were also able to use recently learned content vocabulary as they took part in the class discussion with the presenters. By the end of the presentation students learned about the plant term, binomial nomenclature and about 11 different carnivorous plant geneses.
