Character Development: Community Service

As part of the AVID curriculum students must design and become active in community service projects that provide them with – not only service hours – but also meaningful character development experiences. On January, AVID students had the opportunity to share a meal with homeless people from our hometown Aguadilla. AVID students, parents, staff, faculty and administration came together to be part of this project. Personal hygiene products and food items were donated to fill brown bags to be offered to the people in need. 11th and 12th grade AVID students prepared and cooked 12 delicious lasagnas, “amarillitos”, bread and water that served… over 100 homeless people!
