Ramey Math Teams - Shine Again

Congratulations to the Ramey Middle School MATHCOUNTS team for capturing first place in the South/West Chapter competition on February 23rd. At the competition, held at the Polytechnic University in San Juan, Ramey put together a solid team performance to comfortably out distance 2nd place SESO. 8th grader Adriel de la Rosa brought home the third place medal. 6th grader Abner Cardona finished 2nd in the region and top twelve in the state. Abner also qualified for the Countdown Round where he was eventually eliminated by the countdown sub-champion. Ramey advanced to the state final on March 16. The team is composed of Abner C., Francisco C., Ariadna R., Robert R., Luke H., Diego G., Leonardo M., and Adriel R..

 

Meanwhile, the high school mathletes traveled to Mayagüez to compete in the CROEM Math Bowl on Feb 22nd. In a nearly flawless performance they earned perfect scores on 9 of 10 problems. Only STEM powerhouse Notre Dame was able to surpass the Ramey mathletes, who finished in a strong 2nd place position. The high school team faces off next at the UPR-Aguadilla competition on April 4.
