On Saturday, February 4th at Eagle Ridge Middle School in Ashburn, VA, sixth and seventh grade students from Quantico MS/HS competed in the Bull Run District Local Mathcounts Competition. The team consisted of C Owens, C Thomas, C Burton and A Coleman. The competition consisted of two rounds, the target and sprint, where the students worked problems individually and a third round where the students worked as a team to solve problems.

Mr. R Burton, a parent, assisted the team by providing transportation, treats and encouragement. The students were sponsored by the Quantico PEA.

Mathcounts is a national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person math contests against and along side their peers. It is open to all sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students. Students meet each Monday after school throughout the year to prepare for the competition and explore a variety of math problems.
