Last Tuesday, October 16, 2018, the AVID program at AHS offered its students and those from other classes a video conference with Mrs. Notlim M. Burgos, an Engineer from the NASA. She is from San Juan Puerto Rico and studied Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), first at the Carolina campus before graduating from UPR in Mayaguez. Mrs. Burgos talked to the students about how she got into engineering and explained that during her studies she started as an intern in a Co-op program between the University and NASA in 2006. After graduating, she became a full-time employee at the Marshal Space Flight Center. However, since 2016, Mrs. Burgos works at the Kennedy Space Center. She revealed to the students that NASA offers many programs where students can get “hands-on practice,” including knowledge and experience. Students were enthusiastically asking questions, and Mrs. Burgos showcase, models of the rockets, she is currently working on. It was an excellent experience for the students.
