On Thursday, September 13, 2018 students from the Fort Knox High School Street Law class participated in a field trip to the Louisville Metro Corrections Department and the Hall of Justice. Before touring the jail students participated in an interactive informative lecture with Assistant Director Steve Durham. After the jail tour students visited the Hall of Justice and were given a tour of the Louis D. Brandeis courthouse by Chief Deputy Steven Rush. Chief Deputy Rush showed us the various sections of the courthouse and escorted our group into the chambers of Judge Erica Lee Williams. After giving us a short biography about her journey to becoming a judge, Judge Williams invited the students to ask questions. The Fort Knox High School Street Law teacher, Jennifer Washington and the students praised both the Louisville Metro Corrections Department and The Hall of Justice for taking the time out of their busy schedules to enlighten them on the daily functions inside the Corrections Facility and the Courthouse.
