Ms. Marian Leverette Named Assistant Principal of Yokota HS

Dr. Steven Bloom, Pacific East Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Mrs, Marian Leverette as Assistant Principal of Yokota HS at Yokota AB, Japan.

Mrs. Leverette obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering from New York Institute of Technology, her Master of Arts in Teaching from Jacksonville University and her Master’s degree in Education Leadership from University of North Florida. Currently, she is a doctoral student at George Washington University.

Mrs. Leverette held numerous educational and administrative positions from elementary to the collegiate level in Florida, Virginia, California and Rhode Island for 15 years before joining DODEA in 2012. Since then, she has taught at Bahrain Elementary and Seoul American Elementary Schools bringing her significant math and science experience to bear. She also pioneered a computer Fundamentals and Business information systems courses at Roger Williams University and Hampton University. As the first US Navy Mid-Atlantic Regional School Liaison Officer in the program’s history she served as an educational advocate for more than 90,000 military-connected students (K-12) and their families.

Mrs. Leverette has significant leadership experience as a CSI team member, College and Career Readiness Math Lead for Seoul American Elementary School, assistant principal at a Florida gifted magnet elementary school, and district 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Manager. She has led multiple community service organizations, school improvement programs, and community events for over 30 years.

Mrs. Leverette served ten years active duty as a naval officer before beginning her career in education. Her spouse is a senior US Naval Officer on active duty stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. Their daughter is a graduate of Florida State University. Mrs. Leverette looks forward to partnering with staff, students, family and local community in order to provide a safe, academic environment where students are inspired to learn and grow guided by Yokota High School’s vision within the Yokota Air Base community.
