Dahlgren school recently had to say goodbye to our new friends from Korea. Each year Dahlgren School is fortunate to welcome families from other countries temporarily stationed here. For many of these students English is their second language. By the end of the year the growth in their language skills is truly remarkable. We learn as much from these students as they learn from us. Cheoyeong, has a message board on Schoology in which she shared various aspects of her Korean culture. One day during lunch she taught the whole school a Korean game similar to Jack's’ . The students love this game and now play it frequently. Fellow sixth grader Sania said, “The first day she met Cheoyeong she was just another student in the class, but then when she had to say goodbye to her on the last day, she felt like she was losing someone very important in her life". Mrs. Kathy Walseman the Middle School Language Arts teacher said, “ As in the words of William Shakespeare, parting is such sweet sorrow “.
