Okinawa, Japan | May 19, 2023
At this week’s environmental club, Carl Bastian and Healy Ealy from Churauma (a local NPO) spoke on how our students can help with turtle conservation on Okinawa. In addition to educating our group on turtle ecology, they also discussed human impacts and the upcoming nesting season in Okinawa. May through August is turtle nesting season in Okinawa; students were encouraged to scour beaches for turtle tracks from laying mothers so that the NPO can mark and protect the nests to increase hatching success.
