Vision:

The Teaching and Learning Division empowers a professional teaching force that integrates online learning opportunities and equitably prepares each student to be college and career ready.

Mission:

The mission of the Teaching and Learning Division is two-fold: first, to establish a systematic plan for educational professional learning within DoDEA that aligns to the DoDEA Blueprint for Continuous Improvement and supports curriculum, instruction, assessments, and programs; and second, to provide eligible military connected students the opportunity to supplement and enhance educational opportunities and choices through enrollment in the DoDEA Virtual High School.

The Teaching and Learning Division is comprised of the following three branches:

  • DoDEA Virtual High School
  • Instructional Design Services
  • Professional Development

The Teaching and Learning Division is committed to utilizing and integrating all resources that support professional learning, to include: DoDEA Headquarters, Centers for Instructional Leadership (CILs), districts, and local schools. Branches within the Teaching and Learning Division use all available system-wide data to create plans for professional learning for educators that are coherent, build system capacity, aligned to standards, and focused on improving teaching and learning that raises achievement. The Teaching and Learning Division is also responsible for the DoDEA Virtual High School, a comprehensive accredited school that provides military connected students with online courses designed to augment the skills necessary for college and career readiness.
