DoDEA Europe School Status Update

SEMBACH, GERMANY — March 20, 2020 — As of Friday, 20 March 2020, all DoDEA schools across Europe are closed to students until further notice. While our schools are closed to students, our teachers and administrators are working diligently to implement and maintain digital learning plans to ensure continuity of education for our students. These plans differ for each community and school due to varying needs and capabilities. We are incredibly proud of how our communities have come together to ensure continuity of education for our students in these challenging circumstances.

Spring Break for DoDEA Europe schools will take place as previously scheduled on each school’s annual calendar. These calendars can be found on the individual school pages at our website ( We recommend that students, staff and families alike use this break as a time to rest and recover during this uniquely challenging time. We also encourage all DoDEA students, staff and families to follow regional guidance regarding travel. Please remember that, given the current situation, any significant travel could increase the possibility of becoming ill.

Out of abundance of caution regarding the health and safety of our staff and student/athletes, the decision has also been made to cancel the remainder of the 2020 Spring Sports season. While we know that this is highly disappointing to our amazing student/athletes, DoDEA leadership feels that it is the best decision under the circumstances.

We are working closely with our military and host nation partners to closely monitor the situation. All decisions regarding school status will be made with the health of our students, staff and community in mind.
