Check out the latest PTA news and information!
Dear Garmisch EMS Parents,
As DoDEA continues to establish its College and Career Ready Standards, we are implementing a Comprehensive Assessment System that includes all of the system-wide assessments offered by DoDEA.
All of these assessments – including the Benchmark Assessment System, SAT/PSAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement – support student learning and provide information on how to support student achievement.
We have developed a plan that is aligned with College and Career Ready Standards to administer three types of assessments for the current school year: diagnostic, interim, and summative assessments in literacy and mathematics.
As a member of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers Consortium – or PARCC – this coming spring for the first time, our students will take computer-based assessments that assess College and Career Ready Standards for grades 3-6 in Mathematics, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, and for grades 6-8 and 10 in Literacy.
Please take a few moments to watch a video featuring DoDEA’s Assessment Chief, Dr. Raquel Rimpola, as she provides an excellent overview of our new Comprehensive Assessment System. You can watch the video at this link: https://youtu.be/FplPUvL95OQ.
I will provide you with more information over the next several weeks and months about specific testing dates at our school. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the upcoming spring assessments.
It is the responsibility of the parents or guardians to notify the school every time a student is absent.
