Heroes ES

About Our School

Heroes Elementary

Heroes Elementary School opened in school year 2011-2012 as the result of the need for an additional elementary school aboard Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base. Children from Berkeley Manor, Heroes Manor, and Paradise Point housing areas attend Heroes Elementary School. The HES staff will continue to work to implement instructional strategies to support our continuous school improvement goals to improve reading comprehension and number sense. As part of continuous school improvement, we invite you as parents, to be involved with supporting the plan by working with your children at home and communicating with teachers throughout the year. We are committed to continuous school improvement and purposefully planning instruction that meets the needs of all our students.

Heroes Elementary School is built to serve approximately 770 students in Pre-K through 5th grade. The student enrollment will grow as homes in Heroes Manor continue to be built and occupied. Our school has 38 classrooms with other classrooms designed for special areas and curriculum support. There are two computer labs, special education classes, an art classroom, gym, and a music classroom. There is a full time nurse and counselor available daily to meet the needs of students along with access to a school psychologist. Para-professionals(Educational aides) support the educational program in preschool, kindergarten, and special education programs. They are essential to the implementation of curriculum and care the staff provides our students. The daily schedule for Heroes Elementary is built to enable students and teachers to have large amounts of blocked time to facilitate uninterrupted instructional time. Wednesday afternoon, early release time is an opportunity for the staff to participate in a professional learning community to collaborate, purposefully plan instruction, and look at school data to focus on continuous improvement and student achievement.  Heroes Elementary School will communicate with stakeholders soliciting feedback and involving them in continuous school improvement.  The staff of Heroes Elementary School is proud to serve the military community of Camp Lejeune by providing a school environment that is safe and gives students the opportunity to learn and be successful.
