Blackhawk Families
It is with pleasure that Ms. Flanery and I welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year at Humphreys High School, home of the Blackhawks! It is both an honor and privilege to serve as your administrators. At Humphreys High School, we put DoDEA’s mission to “educate, engage, and empower each student to succeed in a dynamic world” into practice. Our faculty and staff take pride in ensuring our students are engaged in an environment of high expectations inclusive of academic, social, and emotional development. Our goal is to make HHS the premier high school in the Pacific and DoDEA… and to spread that Blackhawk Pride!
At HHS, we offer a rigorous curriculum aligned to College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) and our Continuous Improvement (CI) goals. We pride ourselves in offering courses that appeal to all learners. This includes over twenty Advanced Placement courses, eight Career and Technical Education Pathways, literacy and mathematics lab classes, Culinary Arts, Health Science, and much more! We also offer a wealth of extracurriculars. We are confident that every student will find their place at HHS and be able to thrive.
As we strive to grow student success, it cannot happen without strong partnerships between all our stakeholders. It is especially critical to partner with our military communities and parents to ensure our students achieve their full potential. In the coming weeks there will be invitations to join our SAC (School Advisory Council), PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization), and other workshops and events. Please consider participating in anything and everything. Our newly established PTSO is an example of the results of our collaborative efforts with our stakeholders.
We appreciate the opportunity to serve the USAG Humphreys community. I am excited for the opportunity to start the year as the principal of Humphreys High School and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to get to know your student and family. You have an open invitation to call, email, or meet in person with either administrator. We value all feedback as we strive to make HHS the school of choice.
Again, welcome to Humphreys High School!
All my best,
Amanda Schwerdt-Johnson
