Yours in Education,
After months of closure of our schools to students due to the pandemic, DoDEA is preparing for the start of a new school year. Currently, we are conducting detailed planning and collaboration with our commands around the logistics, health, and safety issues involved in starting this new school year. We realize that the uncertainty around the lack of final plans for a return to school can be unnerving for parents. It is imperative that we get students back to school as soon as soon it is safe to do so. We ask for your patience as we finalize plans and options for the return to school.
One thing for sure – the routines of schools will be different this year. Social distancing, face coverings, and other options recommended by DoD and the CDC will have to be in place to ensure a safe and healthy return to school.
We also understand that some families may have circumstances where they do not wish to or are unable to send their child back to the school setting. Our planners are looking at options to best serve those students.
We expect to have those plans by mid-July and will share with you immediately. As always, we welcome your input and concerns.
All of us in DoDEA want to ensure parents and students have all the resources they need be safe and to succeed.
It is critical that parents help us as we return to school by establishing good hygiene and heathy behaviors at home and by setting an expectation that your child will do the same at school. Handwashing, use of sanitizer, social distancing, wearing of face coverings, and other heathy practices will help ensure the well-being of all students and staff. Above all, if your child is sick, keep them home and get medical attention if necessary.
This page is designed to be a one-stop shop for links to everything, other than health and safety, from school calendars to supply lists, and everything in between. If you need more information, please don't hesitate to reach out to your school's administrator, whose contact information is listed to the right. They are dedicated to making sure students at all grade levels are given the academic foundation, social and emotional skills, and counseling services necessary to be ready for college or career. The best way to ensure that happens is to make sure all students are ready to take on the new school year!
Be sure to watch for updates over the summer! Be safe!
