Department of Defense Education Activity

Hello Osprey Nation,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!  I hope you had a relaxing summer which allowed you to spend quality time with family and friends.  Johnson Primary School (JPS) is a special place, and it is an honor to serve our military connected students and families. The entire staff at JPS is dedicated to ensuring that all students receive an excellent education in a warm and welcoming environment.

At Johnson Primary School we are committed to providing our smallest heroes with access to a quality instruction, while providing a wide range of support services to ensure that we meet the needs of all our students.  Our educators collaborate with support staff to design lessons that are engaging, interactive and enriched with STEM.
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do at Johnson Primary School, and I am dedicated to ensuring that every student knows that they are an integral part of our Osprey family. Our commitment to relationships goes beyond the walls of our building; and we are especially proud of our community partnerships. I look forward to continuing our ongoing pledge to provide our students with experiences that promote their ability to be college and career ready are essential.

As the leader of Johnson Primary School, I want to reaffirm my dual commitment to meeting the needs of our students, while understanding the unique challenges associated with being a military child. Johnson Primary offers various services to support the academic and social-emotional needs of every Johnson Primary student.
My Assistant Principal Jeffrey Carr and I have an open-door policy, so, please do not hesitate to contact the Front Office to let us know how we can assist in your new adventure.

We are glad you are here and a member of the Osprey Nation!

Educationally Yours,
Dr. James Brown, Principal

Welcome Back Osprey Families!

As we venture forth into a new academic year, I am motivated to work with my staff at Johnson Primary School for the second year in a row. We navigated the ever-changing waters of the pandemic last year and now, stronger than before, we assemble to face the 2022-2023 school year. Our strength lies in our diversity and our varying backgrounds. In many places these qualities serve to divide people; Johnson Primary School is different. I am united with Dr. Brown our principal in the quest to teach students to the utmost of our ability. Whether we are administration, educators, educational aides, support staff, custodians, or cafeteria workers – everyone at Johnson understands the importance of what we do – and who we do it for. We have faced disappointment, tragedy, loss, and continued moving forward; not individually; but together. Those who fell behind were assisted by those that could, unpacking our mission that we leave no one behind, for any reason, at any time.

Whatever challenges we face, differences we endure, we merge as one. Our goal is to teach kids the elements of reading, writing, and arithmetic; uniting with dedication to the parents of the military children that we serve.  The support we receive from the military command and our Community Superintendent solidifies the beliefs that military students are our priority and will remain the focus of Johnson Primary staff.  As a leader here at JPS, the strength and support from our parents, provides a clear path to educate, nurture and provide a safe environment for all students.

So, this year, we emerge from the pandemic that slowed us down and step out in unison, stepping out as one.  Our dedication and commitment to JPS’ success relies on the strength of our parents and staff, serving the children of the brave men and women that defend our country tirelessly, placing themselves on the battlefield, in your homes and in the classrooms.  JPS’ commitment to your students will never falter, through diligence, hard work, perseverance and integrity.

Semper Fi,
Mr. Jeffrey Carr,
Assistant Principal
