The 2020-2021 school year will look different across DoDEA as our schools reopen in a “new normal” environment due to COVID-19, if local health protection conditions (HPCON) allow for it.
Most students will attend school full-time with regular instruction from teachers. Face-to-face instruction and the routines of school add significantly to success and growth for all students.
Some families have elected the Virtual School option. Those students will begin school on August 24th and will receive more information directly from the Virtual School Principal.
One thing for sure – the routines of schools will be different this year. Social distancing, face coverings, and other options recommended by DoD and the CDC will have to be in place to ensure a safe and healthy return to school. DoDEA has put in place numerous safety requirements and precautionary measures that follow CDC and DOD guidance to the greatest extent possible to ensure employees and students are protected.
School calendars vary by state and region. Complete calendars for DoDEA schools can be found at: https://www.dodea.edu/schoolCalendars.cfm
All of us in DoDEA want to ensure parents and students have all the resources they need be safe and to succeed.
It is critical that parents help us as we return to school by establishing good hygiene and heathy behaviors at home and by setting an expectation that your child will do the same at school. Handwashing, use of sanitizer, social distancing, wearing of face coverings, and other heathy practices will help ensure the well-being of all students and staff. Above all, if your child is sick, keep them home and get medical attention if necessary.

If you need more information, please don't hesitate to reach out to your school's administrator, whose contact information is listed to the right. They are dedicated to making sure students at all grade levels are given the academic foundation, social and emotional skills, and counseling services necessary to be ready for college or career. The best way to ensure that happens is to make sure all students are ready to take on the new school year!
Be sure to watch for updates over the summer! Be safe!
