I am Connie Turner, Principal of Liberty Intermediate School.
My hometown is Columbus, Georgia. I joined Department of Defense Dependent School System-Overseas Schools (DoDDS), now Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), in 1979.
My first assignment was Bamberg Elementary/Junior High School in Bamberg, West Germany for 6 years.
I left DoDDS for 4 years, and I then had the blessing to be sent to Okinawa, Japan where I spent 23 years of my educational career.
I worked at Kadena High School from August 1989 to July 2006. While there I was named Teacher of the Year for SY 2006-2007; however, I had to relinquish the title due to being promoted to Assistant Principal at Kubasaki HS.
In 2012, I moved to Heidelberg, Germany where I was able to reconnect with friends and colleagues from my first assignment in Germany and continue my journey as Assistant Principal of Heidelberg HS. Lakenheath HS was my next assignment from 2013 to 2016. I became the Principal of Liberty Intermediate School August 2016. Liberty is an amazing school with committed, kind, caring teachers. Our Tigers are energetic, ready to learn, and they glow and grow. This has been a great assignment with supportive parents, supportive DoDEA Leadership, and supportive RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall Military Commands.
Thank you for sharing in my life-changing journey!
