Ms. Darnell Dean - Netzaberg MS Principal

Ms. Dean has twenty-seven years of administrative and teaching experience at the elementary, middle, and high school levels throughout North Carolina and DoDEA Europe. Ms. Dean most recently served as the assistant principal at Naples Middle High School (NMHS).

Ms. Dean graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science in political science. Fayetteville State University also awarded her a Master of Arts in middle school education and a Master of Arts in education administration. As a teacher, Ms. Dean taught 8th-grade social studies to middle school students and English to high school students at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Her experiences also include coaching sports and sponsoring numerous academic and extracurricular activities, continuous improvement, and supervising special education programs.

Ms. Dean believes that the most crucial component of learning is student improvement. Students can learn and grow in a variety of ways and at varying paces. She thinks that all students can become educated young adults through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Ms Dean believes school excellence is created by encouraging, cultivating, and empowering teach leaders. She is a livelong learner who believes in energizing teaches to improve their professional practice to increase student achievement. Visibility, teamwork, and consistently encouraging students to challenge themselves academically will contribute to developing a school atmosphere in which all students thrive.

Mr. Paul Crane - Netzaberg MS Assistant Principal

Mr. Crane is excited for this new opportunity to return to Bavaria to serve the students, staff, and U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria community within the Europe East District.

Mr. Crane was born and raised near Buffalo, New York. He attended and graduated from Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. In between 2002 to 2015, Mr. Crane has earned multiple degrees; Master's degrees in both Special Education and Educational Leadership and Curriculum from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY; an Education Specialist Degree in School Administration and Leadership from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN; Doctorate degree from Saint Regis University in Wilmington, DE; and a graduate from the Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth, KS.

Paul’s career in education began in Niagara County Public Schools as a substitute teacher following his retirement from the United States Army as a Major in 2002, and worked in multiple schools while earning his post-graduate degrees on behalf of the G.I Bill tuition program and Veterans Administration. His first teaching assignment was in the Buffalo Public Schools in Grover Cleveland High School as a special education teacher for emotionally impaired for 6-years in the inner city, until hired by Department of Defense Schools as an Itinerant Emotionally Impaired teacher to pilot the Emotionally Impaired and Autism Teacher Leader program in the Netzaberg and Grafenwoehr Schools in 2008.

He was promoted as Assistant Principal for Vogelweh Elementary School in 2015 and served in this capacity for the past 6 school years in helping transition the school from a legacy school of nearly 900 students to their new 21st Century Elementary School. Further, Vogelweh Elementary School was first elementary school in Europe to use the open teaching concept and establish operational and procedural measure through use of a Neighborhood grade level instructional model that opened in 2019 through present day.

Throughout his military and education careers, Mr. Crane has sought continuously to improve education and training opportunities for students and personnel through candid and direct relationships that create a caring and trusting relationship among our military connected families in an atmosphere of safety for social-emotional learning for everyone to thrive.
