Henry Barr named assistant principal of Yokota High School

The Japan District Superintendent’s Office is pleased to announce the return of Mr. Henry Barr as the assistant principal of Yokota High School at Yokota Air Base, Japan.
A lifelong learner, Mr. Barr recently completed a one-year educational leave in pursuit of a doctoral degree in education to more effectively support DoDEA’s CSP Goal 1 – Student Excellence.
Mr. Barr previously served as Assistant Principal of Yokota High School from 2008 to 2013. Prior he served as Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Instructor at E.J. King High School in DoDDS Japan for six years. Mr. Barr came to DoDEA in 2002 as a classroom teacher and additionally served as a coach for soccer, marksmanship, and military drill. He was a School Improvement Team member, Athletic Director, and After-School Tutor Program Manager. He is certified to teach Special Education, AVID, and Naval Science.
Mr. Barr enjoys working with all school stakeholders and welcomes open dialogue and impromptu conversations with parents, community members, educators, and especially students. A retired U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Barr has a special affinity for the military community and understands the challenges associated with military assignments and deployments. 
Mr. Barr holds a Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College, a Master of Human Relations from University of Oklahoma, and he is currently enrolled in the Doctorate in Education Leadership and Learning program with Aspen University.
