MISAWA, JAPAN — October 5, 2020 — Dr. Judy Allen, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Anita Sharma Magrath as Principal for Sollars Elementary School.
Ms. Magrath is a highly experienced educator who began her career as an elementary school teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia. She also served as a counselor for many years before her mentor steered her in the direction of administration. During her years as a counselor, Ms. Magrath initiated an award-winning mentor program and created a highly successful social-emotional program at her school. Ms. Magrath was an assistant principal for ten years, during which time she led school teams to academic excellence and worked with the school community to build strong partnerships.
Most recently, Ms. Magrath was an elementary school principal in Prince William County Schools, Virginia. In her tenure as principal, she initiated programs based on the needs of her school community to support student learning such as Responsive Classroom, Restorative Practices, and Response to Intervention. She is proud of the positive and collaborative culture that she created at her schools. Her educational philosophy is simple, do whatever it takes to create an engaging learning environment for all students. She believes “no significant learning can occur without a significant relationship.”
Ms. Magrath received her bachelor’s degree in Education from George Mason University. She earned her master's degree in School Counseling from Virginia Tech University. Ms. Magrath completed her credentials towards School Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia.
Ms. Magrath enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband of 21 years, Bill, and their two children. She also enjoys exercising, reading and spending time with friends.

DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for school-aged children of Department of Defense personnel who would otherwise not have access to high-quality public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the United States that serve children of military families.
