YOKOSUKA, JAPAN — November 14, 2019 — Dr. Judith J. Allen, DoDEA Pacific East Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Shenna Anderson as the Assistant Principal at The Sullivans School located at Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), Japan. Ms. Anderson is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. She earned her B.S. in Criminal Justice and M.A. in Teaching from the University of Louisville, in Louisville, KY and went on to earn a Post-Masters Certification in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX.
Ms. Anderson brings over 10 years of experience in education to the DoDEA Pacific East District including leadership in elementary, middle, and adult education. Ms. Anderson has served as department chair, team leader, and as an active member of the Site Based Decision Making Team, School Improvement Team, and Campus Needs Assessment Team.
Prior to joining DoDEA, Ms. Anderson served as a Quality Review and Training Specialist for the Department of Veterans Affairs and an Education Specialist for the Bureau of Prisons. During her time with the Veterans Affairs, Ms. Anderson developed, streamlined and facilitated training and professional development for field examiners assigned to the Midwest and Southern regions of the United States.
Ms. Anderson is a military veteran with nearly a decade of Federal Law Enforcement experience with the U.S. Army and the Department of Homeland Security. Early in her career, she had the honor of serving as the D.A.R.E. Officer for the Brussels American School in Brussels, Belgium, planting the seed for her return to the DoDEA family.
Ms. Anderson has served the CFAY community as a classroom teacher at The Sullivans School for the last 2 years and is proud to continue to serve in her new role as Assistant Principal.
Ms. Anderson is married to her wonderful husband of 21 years, Michael, and is the proud mother of two children. Michael, Jr. is proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force and Lailah is currently an 8th grader at Yokosuka Middle School.
DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for school-aged children of Department of Defense personnel who would otherwise not have access to high-quality public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the United States that serve children of military families.
