Mr. Christopher B. Kimmey, Interim Principal Iwakuni Elementary School.
IWAKUNI, JAPAN — February 22, 2022 — Dr. Dr. Judith J. Allen, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Christopher B. Kimmey as Interim Principal for Iwakuni Elementary School on Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan.
Mr. Kimmey attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. He also holds a Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton. Mr. Kimmey started his career in DoDEA in Iwakuni, Japan in 2011, at Matthew C. Perry Elementary School and expanded his teaching to Iwakuni Elementary School in 2018. He was a pivotal member of the continuous school improvement team for Matthew C. Perry Elementary School. In 2013, Mr. Kimmey became chair of the continuous school improvement team, overseeing the school improvement leadership team that provided a structured, targeted, and collaborative environment for all teachers to improve instructional practices within each individual classroom.
In April 2020, Mr. Kimmey was selected as the Professional Learning Instructional Systems Specialist for DoDEA Pacific East, Yokosuka, Japan. In this role, Mr. Kimmey provides curriculum and instructional guidance, coaching opportunities, school improvement strategies, and professional learning opportunities for Yokosuka complex. Mr. Kimmey is currently the chair of the Pacific East District Steering Committee, overseeing the development of the current Pacific East District Strategic Plan and District Critical Initiative Working Groups. Mr. Kimmey continues to support the implementation and development of the continuous school improvement network for all twenty schools in the Pacific East District.
Mr. Kimmey is passionate about leadership and believes in building relationships with faculty members, parents, and our military partners, fostering the best education for our military-connected students. Mr. Kimmey is excited to join the White Snake family and looking forward to serving the wonderful Iwakuni community!
DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for school-aged children of Department of Defense personnel who would otherwise not have access to high-quality public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Activities throughout the United States that serve children of military families.
