DoDEA Pacific South announces renaming of Bob Hope Primary School

OKINAWA — May 10, 2021 — DoDEA Pacific South is pleased to announce Bob Hope Primary School will be renamed and known as Ralph F. Stearley Primary School beginning with the 2021-22 school year.

The Pacific South District Office has been working closely with Air Force installation leadership to determine an appropriate name for the primary school upon the opening of Bob Hope Elementary School, which will open for the 2021-22 school year.

Major General Ralph F. Stearley served as Commander of 20th Air Force from July1950 to January 1953. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., he received numerous awards throughout his military career including the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal and the Commendation Ribbon. His foreign decorations include the Commander of the Order of the British Empire, the French Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur and Croix de Guerre avec Palme, the Belgian Order of Leopold, Croix de Guerre avec Palme, and the Netherlands Order of Orange Nassau, Degree of Commander.
