Ms. Jones’ passion is educating, engaging and empowering students, teachers, and the staff she leads. Ms. Jones fosters the development of students academically, socially, and emotionally to become independent and active problem-solvers in our 21st century global society. As a former military spouse, she understands the diverse needs of our military-connected children.
Ms. Jones began her teaching career at the age of 20 at Parrish High School and then Cordova Elementary School in Alabama. She expanded her influences to Texas when the opportunity emerged to join the Killeen Independent School District. When the prospect to join the DoDEA team developed, she excitedly accepted and moved her family to one of life’s greatest journeys. Michelle spent the first nine years in the DoDEA school system at Kitzingen Elementary School in Germany supporting the needs of military-connected students and their families. In 2006, she was transferred to Okinawa to continue her journey as an educator at Kinser Elementary School. While in Okinawa, she had the privilege to serve as Assistant Principal at E.C. Killin Elementary School and as Principal at Bob Hope Primary School. She also served as the Principal of Osan Elementary School in South Korea, the first 21st Century School to open in the Pacific West District.
Ms. Jones is currently pursuing her doctorate in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Leadership, Communication, and Counseling through Amridge University in Alabama. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and master’s degree in both Elementary Education and Education Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As Pacific South Chief of Staff, Ms. Jones continues to keep children at the heart of all we do.
