The positive and consistent School/Home/Community partnership provides a safe and wholesome environment for our students to learn and achieve. It is recognized that parents are the first and most influential teachers of their children. It is through parents' involvement that children develop the value of learning and working, the importance of relationships and constructive use of leisure time. Parental involvement and participation at Rota is an understood, necessary and expected partnership. Volunteer opportunities can be explored through your child's teacher, the school office, and SAC.
The School Advisory Committee (SAC) is made up of elected parents, educators, and student representatives. The SAC has functional responsibilities that include helping to guide school policies toward students and parents, student activities, and administrative procedures affecting students. The SAC can make recommendations and advise the principal on all matters within its jurisdiction. The committee also helps with instructional programs and educational resources within the school, influences allocation of resources within the school to achieve educational goals, and supports pupil services (health, special education, testing, evaluation, counseling, and extra-curricular activities). The SAC at DGF is very influential in developing student standards of conduct and discipline and it recommends solutions to problems. The SAC meets four times a year. All meetings are open and parents are welcome to attend.
Every school in the Department of Defense, has a School Advisory Committee (SAC). SAC does not address personnel policies or practices, compensation of school staff, grievances of school employees, internal management of DoDEA programs, raise funds to procure school equipment and supplies, grant student scholarships, financially support special school events, engage in any other monetary projects traditionally associated with PTSA, booster clubs, or other similar organizations.
